(Connoisseur-Caliber) In this extremely finely crafted 19th century Ferahan rug, the luminous effect of its unadorned blonde-toned reserve is a stunning animating force that is redoubled by the rhythmical streaks of abrash that imparts tremendous subtle movement and a sense of infinite depth. At its center, the singular four-pendant medallion hangs like an exquisite, perfectly proportioned brooch that is echoed by the four spandrels. Evocative jewel tones abound throughout the exceedingly delicate and extremely colorful ornamental design, which is effectively set off by the glowing cobalt blue border that flashes of jade, sapphire blue, coral, saffron and garnet. Clearly much loved, this 150-year-old rug has been maintained in marvelous condition.
