A deeply lyrical carpet with the inspired allover design that would be compatible with virtually any large space, this antique Malayer carpet excels in its incredible clarity of drawing and interplay of unexpected jewel tone colors, extended to grand dimensions. The palette is a significant departure from the deeper tones most often encountered in this 19th century village weaving style, instead employing sapphire blues, garnet and soft ivory for a transformative, luminous impact. The drawing of each boteh (paisley-like form) is exquisite, as the master artisans who woven this piece have achieved a laser-etched clarity in this age-old motif. Don't miss the sensitive abrash (continually color striation) that enlivens selected elements, particularly the continuously changing cobalt, sky and denim blue beneath cabbage rose secondary borders.
