From the limited production in 19th century India of handwoven carpets comes this exceptional palace -size rug from Amritsar, known for its European-influenced designs and excellent materials. Using a graceful allover pattern articulated by fine knotting, an intentionally understated palette creates a quiet majesty. Curry, corn silk, dusty rose, lavender, and taupe fill the original curvilinear interlocking design, softly flooding the surface with a subtle warmth. The corners and the long cartouches in the main border provide an elegantly balanced scale to the expanse of the design-studded field. This carpet remains in good condition and is meant to provide a memorable, eloquent ambiance.
