(High-Decorative) In this finely woven tribal rug, a unique rendition of the prized, seldom-seen Alpan Kuba style offers an exceptionally crisp rendering of the striking geometric designs. Vertically aligned urn-like forms and hunter-green quatrefoils are the foundation of a profusion of orderly botanical abstractions reminiscent of modern fine art masterworks. Luminous yet time-softened earth and jewel tones relay the aesthetic sensitivity of tonal juxtaposition by its weaver working on a portable, horizontal loom in a remote mountain village. Along with the fascinating symphonic interplay of rose quartz and ivory vinery, crimson and carnelian reds gambol with bright gold, rare deep teals, and rich walnut create a great depth of field. Exhibiting a cohesion of color and pattern that makes for great visual delight, this highly original rug has always been exceptionally well cared for, coming to us in wonderful condition at some 130 years of age.
