(High-Collectible) A vital energy is palpable in this softly vibrant piece, from the Kashkuli sub-tribe of the famed Qashqai confederation, that features their unique drawing of the boteh” or “Seed of Life” symbol. Repeated throughout the hexagonal carnelian field, the symbol captures a sprouting seed pod within which a fully realized flower is resting, evoking agrarian as well as human implications. This motif filling both the field and the spandrels is a very rare, early pattern and it is rendered here with extraordinary sensitivity, refinement, and spontaneity. Its technically sophisticated border suite, highlighted by the dignified saffron frame, lends this glorious gem an enchanting sense of movement.
