(High-Decorative) This is a masterfully eccentric example of the much-loved antique Karaja rugs from Northwest Persian Azerbaijan. The traditional graphic triple medallion format is presented in an unusual inverse configuration, with the star emblem occupying the center flanked by irregularly rendered sunbursts. The spacious placement of its secondary field elements allows for their much greater prominence than is usually seen in this style, creating a fresh, striking panoply of artfully abstracted botanical forms. Visual drama is further enhanced by a sumptuous color palette where brick red, ivory, and sand meet sage green, azure, and lilac, with winning results against the deep midnight indigo base. Its marvelous heavy pile condition makes this incredibly vibrant, energetic piece not only more appealing to the eye but extremely practical for decades of further use.
