("New Arrivals Gallery") This quietly inventive area-size Mohtasham Kashan exudes a classical ambiance that veils at first its winsome and unique contributions to this style. Its creative patterning throughout offers a fascinating world to explore in detail again and again, where new intricacies of design and color await to be discovered. In homage to the Qajar dynasty that ruled when this rug was made, a personalized rendition of the defiant sword-bearing lion and the personified sun rising behind its back can be found on either side of the narrowest part of the reserve in the burnt copper zones of each corner spandrel. The entirely original main border hosts individualistic azure and emerald birds perching and dangling from wire-thin vinery between various grand palmettes and flowerheads punctuating an effulgent indigo ground. The glistening color palette of this elite rug has retained the sublimity expected of consummately brewed hues derived from highly curated naturally occurring dye sources. This classical stunner is in superb condition and constructed using the softest first shearing of lustrous lamb’s wool from the mountain flocks.
