This dazzling representative from the less seen Moghan Caucasian sub-group is the work of a truly nomadic tribesperson, moving between summer and winter pastures. Its template of two vertical rows of "Memling Guls" (latch-hook-edged stepped cruciforms) is one of this tribe’s signature designs. The generous use of green color in the earth-toned palette is of particular note, as to yield such green blues is a two-step, incredibly time-consuming process that takes great expertise. Here the tone is particularly striking as its striations add great depth to each “tile”. The narrow innermost border presents intriguing changes reflecting the playful light-hearted character so beloved by collectors. Its great condition is another strong suit.
